About Amsara Luxury Retreat

Jan and Don Hodgson share three major passions in life – food, wine and travel.   For them, Amsara Luxury Retreat is the realisation of a long held dream that draws these passions together.

The Amsara story starts in 1987 when they created the business The Essential Ingredient, a providore to many of Australia’s best eating establishments.

Don and Jan HodgsonSourcing products for their business, they travelled extensively staying in many wonderful establishments along they way.

They dreamed of putting all the good things that they experienced into one very special place.

They wanted to create a secluded and exclusive retreat where people could come and enjoy an indulgent experience in a remote and relaxed setting, while still enjoying the personalized luxury of a five star resort.

They looked for several years to find the right property. Then in 2002 whilst on vacation in Broome they stumbled upon 17 acres at the remote, northerly end of Cable Beach. It was ideal.

Over the past seven years the retreat has evolved and their dream has come to life.
